> **The fastest red-flag test:** if a vendor's only "proof" is a PDF they uploaded themselves, and the testing lab has no independent footprint, treat it as marketing — not evidence. Below are the seven flags that matter most, in order.

**🚩 1. Testing you can't independently verify.** A COA that only exists as a vendor-hosted PDF proves nothing — it could be reused, borrowed, or not your batch. You want results that resolve on the *lab's own* portal.
**🚩 2. A captive lab.** If the "independent" lab only ever tests for this one vendor, it's grading its own homework. Real independence means many competing vendors use the same lab.
**🚩 3. Suspicious timing.** The lab's website appeared days after the vendor's. A quick WHOIS lookup exposes this instantly.
**🚩 4. Weasel accreditation.** "ISO 17025-aligned" or "ISO-standard methods" ≠ accredited. Accreditation is a specific, checkable status.
**🚩 5. Vagueness under questioning.** Ask how they test. Open, specific answers are a good sign; "trust us" or topic-changes are not.
**🚩 6. No independent/blind testing anywhere.** The strongest signal is whether anyone has bought off-the-shelf and tested it blind. If the only testing is vendor-controlled, discount it.
**🚩 7. Pressure and hype over information.** Countdown timers and bold body claims, but no verifiable sourcing detail, is the profile of a vendor selling urgency instead of quality.
